‘Home ‘N Away’ was founded four years ago by Jon and Yael Katz, after they relocated their family from Johannesburg.
The business concept of home management originated from realising the need to maintain the large number of holiday homes in Plettenberg Bay on the owner’s behalf in the most respectful and caring manner.
Jon and Yael did their research and concluded that, even though the market was saturated with management companies, there were very few small businesses that understood how important it was to focus on the individual client’s needs, emphasising the personalisation of each property, with its different necessities.
Fresh from the big city, and experienced in service industries, Jon and Yael realised that a handful of clients might appreciate someone that could provide a home management service that was based on the city mentality.
In keeping with the personal approach formula, they targeted a handful of management clients but needed to expand the business. They saw an opportunity to rent out holiday homes that stand empty most of the year and approached homeowners with the idea of generating extra income, using the Airbnb platform.
YAEL HAS DIVERSE EXPERIENCE IN MANAGEMENT IN VARIOUS INDUSTRIES AND RAN A SUCCESSFUL DAY SPA FOR 10 YEARS IN NORWOOD, JOHANNESBURG.
SHE IS METICULOUS AND HAS GREAT ORGANISATIONAL SKILLS, WHICH FORMED THE BASIS OF THE HOME ‘N AWAY BUSINESS MODEL.
JON HAS SUBSTANTIAL MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE IN THE ELECTRONICS AND HOME AUTOMATION INDUSTRIES, HE IS EXTREMELY VERSATILE AND FORWARD-THINKING, WHICH ARE THE KEY INDICATORS OF THE WAY HE OPERATES AND APPROACHES EVERY SITUATION.
